As part of efforts to strengthen the international dimension of Algerian higher education and in preparation for upcoming academic events, the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad, received Mr. Hwang Sungdon, Secretary-General of the Silk-Road Universities Network (SUN).

The meeting was attended by Prof. HARIK Hakim, President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Higher Education and Scientific Research Institutions’ Rankings, as well as the Vice-Rectors of the University of Tlemcen. Vice-Rectors from Abderrahmane Mira University of Bejaïa, Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology (USTHB), and Ferhat Abbas University Setif 1 also took part in the meeting.

This high-level meeting focused on reviewing the logistical and organizational arrangements related to the hosting of the official proceedings of the 11th SUN General Assembly, scheduled to take place at the University of Tlemcen next November. Discussions also addressed the coordination of roles with the aforementioned partner universities, which will, in turn, host several activities and events included in the program of this important international gathering.

Hosting the SUN General Assembly at the University of Tlemcen represents a major scientific and diplomatic milestone. It will not only demonstrate the capacity of Algerian universities to host major international academic events, but also highlight their ability to lead large-scale initiatives, contribute actively to discussions on the future of higher education, and strengthen cultural exchanges among peoples.
