The Embassy of United States of America in Algeria launches, by the American Department of Agriculture, the program “Norman E. Borlaug Fellowship 2O2O» awarding to Algeria, for the year 2020.
The aim of this scholarships program is to promote the agricultural productivity, the food security and economic development through the collaborative research. It offers training in agricultural research, the leadership, and agricultural policies, in the intention of university professor, the researchers and Algerian government leaders.
The selected applicants will work individually with an American mentor who will coordinate the program of training. In the end of this cycle training (10 to 12 weeks). The American mentor will visit the origin institution of scholarship in order to pursue the collaboration on the research project.
The American Department of Agriculture will select the host institution and the mentors for each scholar.
This year, the program for Algeria focuses on three thematic:
1-the animal health: based on risk evaluation and the prevention of the trans-boundary animal diseases
2-Biotechnology: based on newly technologies, in particular CRISPR technology (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) to advance the food security improve strategies for autonomous legionnaire chenille).
