I have the honor to inform you that the African Union Commission has announced the opening of the call for applications for the 2nd cohort of the African Women’s Network for Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FEMWISE-AFRICA). This initiative aims to strengthen the role of African women and their contribution to conflict prevention, mediation, and peace processes through their participation in national and regional activities.

As a reminder, this network was created under decision No. 663 of the African Union Heads of State and Government Summit in July 2017, as a sub-mechanism of the Panel of the Wise. In this context, it is important to highlight the significant emphasis placed by our country on enhancing the role of women in peace and security processes, as demonstrated by our country’s adoption of the National Action Plan for the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, as well as by hosting the inaugural general assembly of the FEMWISE-AFRICA network in Constantine in December 2017.
