Creation of the Joint Algerian-Chinese International Laboratory in Immunology

An  Algerian delegation from the University of Tlemcen visited China as part of a mission to the Southern Medical University and the Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital in Guangzhou. This delegation was comprised of the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Professor Mourad Meghachou, the Director of the Laboratory of Applied Molecular Biology & Immunology (BIOMOLIM, ID W0414100), Professor Mourad Aribi, and the Team Leader of Perinatal & Pediatric Immunology at the BIOMOLIM Laboratory and Head of Neonatology Service at the Mother-Child Hospital of Tlemcen, Professor Mohammed Chems Eddine Smahi. The ambitious goal of this mission was to establish the creation of a joint Algero-Chinese International Laboratory dedicated to mechanistic and applied research in immunology with direct applications in medicine within the framework of translational research. This research would focus particularly on crucial areas of emergency medicine such as anaphylactic shock, the immunology of post-cardiac arrest syndrome, and sepsis, as well as the immunological aspects of strokes and emerging infections. It would also aim to explore cause-and-effect relationships, highlighting the underlying mechanisms specific to mechanistic research in the fields of cancer, allergies, and autoimmune diseases. The founders and leaders of this laboratory are Professor Mourad Aribi from the University of Tlemcen and Professors Abdelouahab Bellou and Xin Li from the Southern Medical University. This initiative is committed to pushing the boundaries of immunological research and proposing innovative solutions to address the most pressing medical challenges.
