On the sidelines of the national colloquium of universities, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamal Badari, awarded the medal of merit of the ministry to the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. Mahachou Mourad, on October 12, 2023.
The medal was awarded to 23 academic institutions for the honorary rank obtained in the international ranking "Times" editions 2024, where Algeria is ranked first among Arab countries and second in Africa, so among the 2% of researchers and other brilliant teachers, there are 56 Algerian researchers. An important figure that attests to the efforts and importance of the work of these researchers. Thus, following this significant number of Algerian establishments, Algeria succeeds in securing the first Maghrebian place and the second African place.
Algeria has also dominated the Arab countries in the field of scientific publishing and academic production, ranking first in the number of scientific journals with 445 journals as well as in the number of researchers whose research is cited by more than 15 thousand researchers.
These positive signs reflect the remarkable progress of the higher education sector in Algeria.
