On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the MIFMA Laboratory organized a national face-to-face and virtual symposium on “Financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment: mechanisms for promoting sustainable development—present and future challenges.” Under the chairmanship of Dr Galil Zineb Financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment are one of the key goals of sustainable development to be achieved in 2030. The conference addressed seven essential axes, starting with the study of the theoretical foundations of the concept of financial inclusion and its different definitions, then the discussion on the role of digitalization and e-services in promoting financial inclusion, and the analysis of women’s financial inclusion and participation in the world of work and the related challenges and opportunities.
This meeting also addressed the topic of women entrepreneurship and its role in supporting women’s economic empowerment, as well as the study of the relationship between financial inclusion and the dimension of environmental, economic and social sustainable development. Participants also discussed financial inclusion that contributes to financial stability and economic growth and its role in building a more sustainable future, as well as women’s economic empowerment strategy on digital financial services to support financial inclusion in Arab countries.
At the end of this event, the symposium presented the experiences of some countries in the adoption of financial inclusion strategies for women’s economic empowerment and the acquisition of best practices in this field.
