"Surgical Experience in Service of Hope:
In the medical field, renal transplantation represents a vital hope for numerous patients suffering from end-stage renal diseases. In Tlemcen, each successful transplantation is the result of a dedicated team under the leadership of Professor C. Abi Ayad and his medical-surgical team.
On May 5th and 6th, 2024, Professor Abi Ayad and his team successfully performed three transplantations from compatible living donors within the General Surgery A and Renal Transplantation Department of CHU Tlemcen.
The first case involved a sister donating to her respective 27 and 30-year-old sisters; the second case involved a 31-year-old sister donating to her 44-year-old sister; and the third case involved a 30-year-old brother donating to his 18-year-old brother.
The operations were conducted under optimal conditions, with the recipients transferred to the nephrology department for post-operative follow-up, while the donors were cared for in Surgery Department A.
Professor Abi Ayad wishes to express his deep gratitude to his surgical team, intensive care physicians, paramedical staff, nephrology team, and all individuals involved directly or indirectly in the success of these interventions.
He also highlights the invaluable contribution of Professor A. Nekhla and Dr. H. Hambli, whose dedication and involvement in the renal transplantation process over many years have been priceless.
In a humanitarian effort and commitment to patient care, Professor Abi Ayad expresses his desire to maintain a steady pace of three transplants per month. This approach aims to reduce waiting times and offer a promising future to a greater number of patients in need of renal transplantation.
