Pr. MEGHRAOUI Moustapha led a conference on Earthquakes in Algeria: Assessment of Seismic Risk and Impact on Social and Economic Development.

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Tlemcen, Dr. MEGHRAOUI Moustapha, Director of Studies at the Institute of Geophysics, Strasbourg, France,led a conference on May 22, 2024, at the distance learning center - Chetouane Campus - on Earthquakes in Algeria: Assessment of Seismic Risk and Impact on Social and Economic Development, under the title "Earthquakes in Algeria: Assessment of Seismic Risk and Impact on Social and Economic Development."

The event was attended by the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, vice-rectors, deans of faculties, and teachers researchers.

Pr. MEGHRAOUI Moustapha brilliantly presented the areas most prone to earthquakes in Algeria, as well as the human and material losses caused by previous earthquakes. He emphasized the importance of developing an early warning system to reduce the risks of such disasters and to capitalize on the results of scientific research in this crucial field, justifying his explanations with images and graphs to make the information more accessible to participants who enriched the conference with their questions and various concerns.
