The trade in psychotropic tablets under the microscope of virtual justice: special events for the fourth penal trial at the University of Tlemcen

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the 19th room at the Imama Center hosted the fourth virtual penal trial, which dealt with a very important subject: ‘The trade in psychotropic tablets’, in the presence of a number of academic and judicial figures, professors, students, and the media family.

Pr. Meghachou Mourad, Rector of the University of Tlemcen, opened the ceremony. He gave a wide-ranging opening address in which he stressed the importance of the subject, highlighting the seriousness of the spread of the drug phenomenon and the serious threat it poses to society. He stressed that discussing this phenomenon in the context of a virtual trial provided a unique opportunity to analyze it from different angles, expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. GATAYA BENUYOUNES and his team for their distinguished efforts in organizing this special scientific event and praising their competence and willingness to enrich the scientific scene with events of such value.

For his part, Pr. Nasreddine BENTIFFOUR, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, stressed the essential role of simulation as an effective teaching tool for improving students' applied training, as it gives students the opportunity to apply their theoretical concepts in the field through a realistic simulation of the course of justice in drug cases, helps them to acquire new skills such as advocacy techniques, legal research, and evidence analysis, and gives them the opportunity to practice their skills in a safe environment, which helps to boost their self-confidence.
The virtual trial experience is a decisive step in preparing a generation of eminent legal professionals capable of meeting the growing challenges in the fight against drugs. Through this trial, the participants immersed themselves in the details of the case, witnessed the unfolding of justice in its various stages, and dealt with the different aspects of this crime.
In conclusion, the fourth virtual criminal trial at the University of Tlemcen is an ideal model for integrating theoretical teaching with practical application, through which the students acquired new skills, making it an experience rich in valuable lessons.
