Pr. MEGHACHOU Mourad, rector of the University of Tlemcen, chaired the official launch of the 2024-2025 academic year on the morning of Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the auditorium of the university campus in the city center. Under the theme "The Algerian University: Creator of Possibilities," the ceremony adopted a hybrid format, allowing the Minister of Higher Education, Mr. BEDARI Kamel, to address all Algerian universities via videoconference, marking the kickoff of this new academic year with an inaugural speech focused on the sector's priorities.

The ceremony was attended by the Wali of Tlemcen, Mr. BECHLAOUI YOUCEF, representatives of local civil and military authorities, university staff, social partners, and members of the media.

The event began with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the Algerian national anthem. The rector then welcomed the attendees and presented the strategic vision of the institution, which strives for excellence and progress. He also revealed figures highlighting the university's dynamism, with 351 emerging institutions and approximately 9988 new students, bringing the total number of enrolled students across all levels to about 40,000.

The Wali of Tlemcen emphasized the state's efforts in the field of higher education and scientific research, particularly regarding student support in terms of accommodation, dining, and transportation. The ceremony also featured an opening lecture for the 2024-2025 academic year on the topic of artificial intelligence, delivered by Professor Mortada Ben Azzouz. He highlighted the importance of keeping pace with rapid developments in this field, showcasing its main applications and impact on various sectors
