National Colloquium on Travel Literature in Algeria

As part of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the University of Tlemcen, the Faculty of Letters and Languages organized a national colloquium on "Travel Literature in Algeria" on Monday, October 7, 2024, in the conference hall of the foreign languages department.

Travel literature in Algeria has become a fundamental pillar of the national literary and cultural life; Algerian writers and authors have made rich contributions to the Algerian, Arab, and global libraries over the centuries.

This colloquium aims to leave a distinctive mark within the series of scientific and cultural activities organized by the university, seeking to revive interest in this unique literary genre and to encourage research in this field.

The scientific sessions of the colloquium addressed the multiple dimensions of travel literature, highlighting its literary, scientific, and artistic value. Participants enriched the discussions through in-depth analyses of the diversity of travel writings across different cultures, both Arab and foreign. This provided a valuable opportunity to explore the cultural and civilizational interactions that characterize this literary genre.

Additionally, a comprehensive analytical reading of the historical trajectory of travel literature in Algeria was presented, tracing its evolution through various historical periods and showcasing the remarkable literary output of Algerian writers in this field.
