The international symposium titled "The Writer and Critic Dr. Abdelmalek Mortadh: Men Depart, but Their Legacy Remains" was held on November 13, 2024, at the Faculty of Letters and Languages, organized by Professor Fatima Bour in collaboration with research laboratories and literary associations.
The symposium explored the late Abdelmalek Mortadh's contributions through five main themes:
The sources of the formation of his thought.
His contributions to literary studies.
His foundation of critical studies.
His contributions to modern linguistics.
National and international studies on his scientific work.
The event saw extensive participation from researchers and academics from various universities and included an art exhibition and commemorative poetry readings. The family of the late Dr. Mortadh was also honored. During an online session, Dr. Abdelsalam Chadhli gave a moving tribute, suggesting naming an institute or university in Algeria after Mortadh to honor his legacy.
The symposium concluded with several recommendations, including organizing similar international events and integrating the study of Mortadh's scientific legacy into Algerian university curricula in recognition of his contributions to literature, criticism, and linguistics.
