On November 14, 2024, the University of Tlemcen, in collaboration with the Pan-African Institute of Water and Energy sciences ( including Climate Change) (PAUWES), hosted a welcome event called "Marhaba Day" for international students. The university's rector, pr.MEGHACHOU Mourad , delivered an opening speech, appreciating the international students' contribution to enriching the academic environment and emphasizing the university's commitment to providing them with the necessary support.
PAUWES Director pr. Abdelatif Zergua, highlighted the institute's role in addressing environmental challenges in Africa, such as climate change and water scarcity. Statistics presented by the university showed an increasing diversity among the student body, with 217 international students from 24 different nationalities. University and PAUWES officials also showcased various research programs and collaboration opportunities available to international students.
The speakers emphasized the importance of international cooperation and academic exchanges in strengthening cultural and scientific partnerships. The international students expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and encouraged their peers to take advantage of the educational opportunities provided.
