The international webinar SIBES'24, titled "Biodiversity, Environment, and Health," took place on December 9th and 10th, 2024, via Google Meet at the University of Abou Bekr Belkaid of Tlemcen.
After opening remarks by Prof. AZZI Rachid, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Training, Scientific Research, and External Relations, and Prof. BOUCHIKHI-TANI Zoheir, Director of the Research Laboratory "Valorization of Human Actions for Environmental Protection and Applications in Public Health," participants had the honor of attending the keynote address by Prof. PONEL Philippe from the Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Ecology (IMBE) CNRS-IRD-Aix Marseille University, France, followed by a debate.
The webinar covered various topics across five workshops:
- Workshop 1: Biodiversity and Biological Control
- Workshop 2: Aquaculture and Ecotoxicology in Marine Environments
- Workshop 3: Population, Morbidity, and Health
- Workshop 4: Taxonomy, Ecology, and Biodiversity in Wetland Environments
- Workshop 5: Conservation and Protection of Ecosystems
With over 250 communications (oral and poster presentations), the event brought together participants from numerous national universities, including those in Tlemcen, Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Mostaganem, Boumerdes, Blida, Algiers, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bouira, Skikda, Djelfa, Setif, Guelma, Ouargla, Ghardaia, Mila, Msila, Oum El Bouaghi, Biskra, Batna, Constantine, and Annaba. International contributions also came from research laboratories in France, Greece, Spain, and Tunisia. During these two days of exchange, participants had the privilege of attending various oral presentations by renowned researchers.
