Call for Projects under the NATO SPS Programme

NATO is launching the call for proposals for 2025 under the "Science for Peace and Security (SPS)" Programme. T

  • Types of Funded Projects:

    • Multiyear Scientific Research Projects

    • Advanced Research Workshops (ARW)

    • Advanced Training Courses (ATC)

    • Advanced Study Institutes (ASI)

    The projects must be co-led by researchers from NATO partner and Allied countries.

    Priority Research Areas:

    1. Environment, Climate Change, and Security:

      • Understanding, mitigating, and adapting to the impact of climate change on security, including in military missions.

      • Increased awareness of security issues related to environmental challenges (health, resource scarcity, increased energy demand, extreme weather events).

      • Reducing the environmental impact of military activities.

      • Forecasting and preventing natural disasters.

    2. Innovation and Revolutionary Emerging Technologies:

      • Technologies with a profound impact on security, including:

        • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

        • Autonomy

        • Quantum Technologies

        • Biotechnology and Human Enhancement

        • Space

        • New Materials and Manufacturing

        • Energy and Propulsion

        • Next-generation Communication Networks

        • Defense Against the Malicious Use of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs)

        • Development of advanced and innovative technologies for security.
