Tlemcen University Commemorates National Martyrs' Day

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Pr. Mourad Meghachou, Rector of Tlemcen University, presided over the ceremony to honor the memory of the martyrs at the 19th May Room – Imama – Bouhanak. The event paid tribute to those who prioritized the ideal of freedom above all else and gave their lives for the liberation and independence of Algeria.

The program included the raising of the national flag, accompanied by the national anthem, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Algeria’s independence.

The Rector opened the ceremony with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the central role of the martyrs in shaping national identity and securing freedom. He stressed the importance of honoring national history and drawing lessons from their sacrifices. In this context, Professor Abdelilah Djafal delivered a valuable lecture exploring the historical dimensions of the martyrs' struggle, shedding light on their heroism and their militant journey for national liberation.

In a deeply moving moment, Tlemcen University honored the widow of martyr Lakhdar Bensalah and the son of martyr Mohammed Rahmouni, symbolizing the university’s recognition and gratitude for the sacrifices made by the martyrs and their families.
