The University of Tlemcen celebrated, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the 63rd anniversary of the Victory Day of March 19 at the Abou El Kacem Saâdallah Conference Hall at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
This event commemorates the signing of the Évian Accords on March 18, 1962, between the representatives of the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic and the French colonial government, marking the end of the war of liberation and the beginning of a new era of independence and national sovereignty.
Pr.MEGHACHOU Mourad, the rector of the university, inaugurated the ceremony with a welcoming speech in which he expressed the symbolic significance of this day in the spirit of the Algerian nation. Highlighting the immense sacrifices made by the Algerian people, he also emphasized the importance of fully reintegrating this memory into the consciousness of future generations to strengthen their attachment to the nation.
As part of the program for this commemoration, Professor Nasreddine Ben Daoud, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented a valuable lecture entitled "Reading the Diplomatic Journey of Algerian-French Negotiations." He discussed the historical stages of the negotiations and the crucial role of Algerian diplomacy in achieving independence.
Victory Day remains a testament to the sacrifices of our ancestors and a message to future generations to continue building and progressing the country, in tribute to a glorious history written by heroes who gave everything for the freedom of their homeland.
